Mercury Sable
The electrical system in the car is such a joke (anyone familiar with the
Neon Genesis Evangelion series will catch this reference) that my friends
have taken to calling it EVA 1. The reason for this is that much like EVA
1 in that series, my car has a dormant soul that likes to take control
from time to time. One day, when I turned on the car, all my warning
lights came on and smoke billowed from the steering column. After shutting
it down and restarting, everything was fine. Despite my headlights and
taillights constantly working, my warning lights tell me that the lights
are out. The check engine light comes on…every time I hit a big bump. The
CD player display and controls freeze or fire at random, meaning that
about 50% of the time I have no volume and at the other 50% the volume is
at max. The interior lights were locked on for some strange reason, and
nothing I could do would get them to shut off except pull the fuse (which
was the same fuse as the headlights). Despite having no errors come up, my
entire starting system fried in one day with no warning. The only thing
that works consistently on the car is the heater and…well…the heater.
