Our Focus Sucks
We bought a 2004 Ford Focus in March 2004, here it is October 2005, not even 2 years old and we have had it in the shop 4 times for the breaks, once to replace the windshield for the faulty seal on it.....the transmision slips but they don't know why, they wanted us to come drive it for them to show them what it was doing, how do you MAKE your transmission slip??? today they just towed it BACK to the dealership because the ignition is frozen!!!!!!!!! I have had old beater chevy's that I didnt have to fix as often as this brand new car that only had 40 miles on it when we bought it, what's wrong with that picture???? |

you should check out lemonaidcars.com...they have thousands of posts for all cars form people who actually owned them and you can see which cars got the most negative complaints on what they were about. By the way, the only good Ford is a Rear Wheel Drive Ford. For some reason, all of the Front Wheel Drive Ford's have a ton of problems. I have a 2004 ford mustang v6 with 30,000 miles on it, I drive it like jeff gordon because it's a manual, and only change the oil once ever 4500 miles; I haven't ran into so much as a break sqeak from this car(knock on wood). The only thing that sucks about it is, it advertises a 16 gallon gas tank, but you only get 13 gallons filling it up and you average maybe 300 miles pertank on legal highway driving. I know this because I drove from Floirda to Ontario, Canada in my car. |

Well, at least FWD Fords aren't as bad as FWD Chryslers. Although, to be fair, some Chrysler FWD trannies fail usually because improper fluid is being used. Chrysler FWD trannies, especially 4 speed overdrives, require a specific Mopar spec fluid like 7176 ATF+3 or 9066, depending on the transmission. If the owner's manual says that it's okay to use Dexron or Mercon, IGNORE IT AND USE ONLY THE MOPAR FLUID! If the dipstick says it's okay to use these fluids, IGNORE IT AND USE ONLY THE MOPAR FLUID! If a mechanic says that he can use Dexron or Mercon in your Chrysler tranny and that it will be fine, TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. If a mechanic says they can use a friction modifier with Dexron or Mercon and that it will work, LAUGH AT HIS FACE AND TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. Friction modifiers DO NOT WORK WELL ENOUGH. If your Chrysler 4 speed auto tranny has Dexron or Mercon, YOU MUST power flush the transmission completely of any of the aforementioned fluids, then you must fill the tranny with the correct Mopar spec fluid, and then you must reset the drivetrain computer by disconnecting the car battery and leaving it disconnected for 15 minutes, and then you must retrain the computer to get the proper shift points back. If you drive your FWD Chrysler with the wrong fluid, it will likely not drive very well and may fail within 1 to 2 months if the wrong shit is not taken out and the right stuff put in. Besides. It must also be understood that Dexron is a GM fluid while Mercon is a Ford fluid. Back to the subject with Ford FWD trannies, the ABSOLUTE BEST THING you can do for this transmission (and pretty much any other FWD tranny) is to install the largest auxilliary cooler that will fit on the front of your car. The biggest cause of tranny failures is excessive heat, so finding ways to cool the fluid effectively WILL allow the tranny to last longer. - Reinhart |

If you had the car into the shop 4 times for the brakes & other problems???? Then...................maybe its the driver, not the car? Its really easy to blame a problem on some-thing (like a car) thats not human. I bought a 2001 Ford Focus a year ago, with 60,000 miles on it, and it runs & drives like champ. " Cars are made of plastic, there not made of miracles doesn't mattter how new or old" |
